EIOPA is part of the European System of Financial Supervision consisting of three European Supervisory Authorities and the European Systemic Risk Board. It is an independent advisory body to the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission.

Careers at EIOPA are open to nationals of European Union Member States plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.

The working and contractual conditions of the EIOPA staff are based on the Staff ​Regulations (SR) and the Conditions of Employment of Other Servants of the European Communities (CEOS)​​.
