Question
The error message for validation BV990 states “The information sorted out by country should represent at least 90% of the technical provisions (calculated as a whole and Best estimate).” While we acknowledge that this validation is non-blocking, we believe that failure might occur should negative values be reported within this QRT. Can the validation be amended to compare absolute values.
EIOPA answer
EIOPA acknowledges that there is an issue with this validation in case of negative entries. However, working with absolute values does not solve this issue. Considering the number of undertakings reporting material negative values causing the validation to fail is relatively limited, EIOPA will maintain the current validation as non-blocking.
